Last week we announced that we were retiring several themes and that they would be free for users to download. As you can imagine, this went over well with the freebie junkies! Everyone loves a good old fashioned freebie, let alone a full theme.

Because of the success of the freebies, we had to rework the download process. Initially, users were running through the shopping cart and then would be given a download after checkout. While this worked, it wasn’t the most efficient way of serving downloads. There’s no reason to clutter the users table with registrations if we don’t have to, you know?

So instead, I’ve just launched a new method for distributing freebies. To download one of the free themes, simply visit the theme page and click the Download Theme button. You’ll be bumped down to a newsletter subscription form. After entering your email address, you’ll be emailed a download link. Upon clicking the link in your email, you’ll be able to download any of the free themes right from their respective pages. We’ll remember your click and you won’t have to enter your email again!

As you might have guessed, I’m going to use your email to send you infrequent newsletters with theme releases, updates and more freebies. The emails will be beautiful and non-obtrusive, I promise. Enjoy!
