The iMac has been the primary part of Apple’s consumer desktop offerings since its introduction in 1998, and has evolved through five distinct forms.

Initial Thoughts and Reactions
The announcement of the iMac in 1998 was a source of discussion and anticipation among commentators, Mac fans, and detractors. Opinions were divided over Apple’s drastic changes to the Macintosh hardware. At the time, Apple was trying to improve its retail strategy. Apple declared that “the back of our computer looks better than the front of anyone else’s”.

How It Performed
In 2005, as it became more and more apparent that IBM’s development for the desktop implementation of PowerPC was grinding to a halt, Apple announced that it would be switching the Macintosh to the x86 architecture and Intel’s line of Core processors. The first Intel-equipped Macs were unveiled on January 10, 2006: the Intel iMac and the introductory MacBook Pro.

Even though this organization was not a religious one, the crowd that gathered in the Second Presbyterian Church probably did not expect his approach.


The list of its friends is daily swelled by the additions of fifties, of hundreds, and of thousands. The cause itself seems suddenly transformed from a cold abstract theory, to a living, breathing, active, and powerful chieftain, going forth “conquering and to conquer.”

For this new and splendid success, we heartily rejoice. That that success is so much greater now than heretofore, is doubtless owing to rational causes; and if we would have it continue, we shall do well to inquire what those causes are.

The warfare heretofore waged against the demon Intemperance, has, somehow or other, been erroneous. Either the champions engaged, or the tactics they adopted have not been the most proper.

These champions for the most part have been Preachers, Lawyers, and hired agents. Between these and the mass of mankind, there is a want of approachability, if the term be admissible, partially, at least, fatal to their success. They are supposed to have no sympathy of feeling or interest, with those very persons whom it is their object to convince and persuade.

These flights have been regarded as tests of the Zond complex involving the firing of the fourth stage of the UR-500 rocket to put the L1 spacecraft into an elliptical trajectory to test high speed re-entry. Considerable disagreements exist as to what happened to these flights. Did they fail, and if so, why?

Andrew Bird — Eyeoneye Video

In late 2011 Bird signed to the record label Mom+Pop. Andrew Bird’s first release for the label was the soundtrack to the film Norman, which included his original score as well as songs by other artists. Bird sequenced the soundtrack to flow as a stand-alone album rather than a compilation of music from the film.

The best compliment I’ve heard is that without having seen the film, you can imagine it by listening to the soundtrack. The sequence is a big part of that effect.
